What should I do if my friend is very intoxicated and not waking up?

You should call the HUPD immediately at 617-495-1212. You should not delay in calling, as any delay could be life threatening depending on the level of intoxication. The HUPD’s focus is to get people immediate medical attention and not to get anyone in trouble. The health and well-being of the person in need of assistance far outweigh any concerns about disciplinary action. Please note that the incident will be reported to the appropriate college official as a medical incident.

Yes. The University has established the MessageMe emergency notification system to contact students, faculty, and staff via text in the event of a life-threatening, campus-wide emergency. This system complements other emergency communications capabilities the University has in place, which include emergency websites, broadcast emails, phone conference bridges, and voice messaging systems.

If I am on campus and I call 911, who responds?

If you call 911 on campus, either the Cambridge Police or the Boston Police will receive the call depending on your location. The HUPD has a good working relationship with both departments, and they generally inform the Department of the 911 call. HUPD officers either alone, or in a join response with another agency, will respond to your location. When assistance is requested, regardless of which agency you call, law enforcement personnel will respond to assist.
