Bicycle & Mobility Device Registration

The Harvard University Police Department partnered with Project 529 to offer bicycle and micromobility device registration to the Harvard community. Project 529's free registration platform, 529 Garage, helps prevent theft and aids in property recovery. To learn more, visit the Project 529 website.

Bicycles and micromobility devices are defined as electric scooters, e-bikes, and similar personal mobility equipment. These devices are portable, often expensive, and susceptible to theft if not stored properly and securely. For this reason, all members of the University community are encouraged to document their device's serial number, make/model, color, and other identifying information.

Students, faculty, and staff are strongly encouraged to register their bicycles and micromobility devices with 529 Garage.

To reduce the chance that your device will be stolen, use two locks, each with a different locking mechanism. For more information, please view this guide to locking your bike (PDF).

If you previously registered your bicycle with HUPD, it will remain on file.
