Additional Reporting Options: Campus Security Authorities

In addition to the primary reporting option of the Harvard University Police Department and local law enforcement agencies, you may report crimes to certain officials designated as Campus Security Authorities. Campus Security Authorities, however, are required to bring forward reports of Clery Act crimes occurring in the Clery Act geographical locations described in this Annual Security Report, and so are not confidential resources.

Harvard University has hundreds of Campus Security Authorities. In general, those who wish to report crimes in a non-confidential manner and have them included in the Annual Security Report, Crime Log, and consideration for warnings, can make reports to deans of students, faculty deans, resident deans, tutor and proctors, and other residential staff, human resource directors, social workers, peer advisors, program directors, coaches, athletic trainers, and Title IX coordinators. Such reports assist the HUPD in compiling the annual statistical disclosure and making assessments about whether it is necessary to issue Timely Warning Notices.

Harvard contracts with Securitas, a private security agency, to provide security services. Securitas personnel are Campus Security Authorities who must bring forth disclosures of Clery Act crimes occurring in relevant Clery Act geography.
