Annual Security Report

The University is required by federal law (The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, 20 U.S.C. 1092(f), known as the "Clery Act") to publish an annual campus security report, and to distribute the report to all enrolled students and employees by October 1 of each year. Since 2004, HUPD has fulfilled the distribution requirement by posting the report, Playing it Safe, on our website and having schools and departments provide a notice to all students and employees about the report's availability and location, either by inserting a flyer in incoming and returning students' registration packets, or by sending a school-wide email.

The Clery Act also requires the University to inform all prospective students and employees about the availability of the security report. To comply with this aspect of the law all notices have been placed on the various school's admissions department websites and in some cases on school's paper admissions materials. To notify employees, both emails are sent in some cases and a posting on the University's faculty and staff intranet site is run at the beginning of the academic year.
